Super Bowl Bound

Dean is going to the Super Bowl! We are so excited. We never expected to have the opportunity to actually go to Miami for the big game. Dean is going to make the trip with his good friend Dennis with whom he shares Colts season tickets. Don't feel sorry for me, however, that I will not be joining Dean. I have my own adventure planned. I have a girls weekend planned in Austin, TX. I am so excited. I am staying with my bestfriend and her husband and I can't wait! There are a total of 6 girls meeting down in Texas for the weekend and I am so looking forward to the trip.

Ben will be staying with Nana and Bampaw and Aunt Mal-Mal and he may be the most excited about the weekend! He is ready for us to go so his fun can begin!

I included some pictures from the last Colts home game. I was fortunate enough to attend the AFC Championship game with my brother, sister Michelle, and future brother-in-law Clint. We had a great time and it took several days for my voice to return. I can't wait to hear all of Dean's stories and post some of his pictures when he returns from the SUPER BOWL!

Ben's Bones

We had to take a trip to Clarian West Hospital to have some x-rays taken of Benny's foot yesterday. He hurt his foot on Sunday night (ironically playing with Dean and I) and wouldn't put any pressure on the ball of his left foot. He refused to even walk on Sunday night and wasn't much better by Monday morning so we called the pediatrician and she sent us to the hospital. Ben was so brave. It is so cute to hear the story of his adventure from his point of view. Here is what it sounded like when he told my family last night at my dad's birthday dinner: "I had pictures of my foot, and I cried a little bit, and I took raffie, and I covered my face, and her have on blanket (the technician was wearing a smock), and, and, and, and, and, and mommy saw my BONES! It was so cool!" He is so funny! Luckily the x-rays were negative and he is walking just fine this morning so we are in good shape today!

VROOM VROOM!

One of Dean's coworkers is moving to Florida and he very kindly gave his sons' motorcycle to Benjamin. Ben was so suprised and excited when he first saw his new "vroom vroom" and he loved riding it around the driveway and to Miss Sally's house (our neighbor). He loved it so much, in fact, that we opted to bring the vroom vroom inside rather than spend every waking minute outside in the cold!

Ben's Babies

Ben is an excellent sleeper...it is still funny to say that considering he didn't sleep through the night until he was 8 months old. Back when he was a baby I was convinced he would NEVER sleep and now I have to wake him up from his 3 hour naps every day.

Last week I went in Ben's room to wake him up from his nap and he was covered in stuffed animals (his "babies"). He looked so sweet that I had to run and get my camera to capture the moment. The flash woke him up and he was so confused, but still so cute!

The Good, The Bad, and The UGLY

I love being a mom. I really do. I feel as though I am fulfilling God's purpose for me everytime I look at my son. I love everything about Ben...his silly personality, funny faces, sweet nature, and kind heart. I have, however, discovered two things that I strongly dislike about being a parent...Potty Training and Dinner time. I hate potty training. I get so sick of fighting with Ben everytime it's time to sit on the potty. He screams and throws himself on the ground and acts as though I am beating him to death, when all I really want is a little bit of pee-pee in the potty, I'm not asking for much, he even gets a gummy bear for his efforts for goodness sake! I know this phase will pass but I truly cannot wait for the day when he consistently goes to the bathroom on his own. It's not even that I mind changing diapers that much, I just really am sick of fighting over the potty!! I sometimes want to quit and just let him stay in diapers, but I have visions of handing over a diaper bag to his kindergarten teacher someday and that encourages me to keep working at it! Regarding dinner time...you would never look at Ben and think that he has any problem eating, and most days eating really isn't an issue. Unfortunately, however, there are times when eating is a big chore! Take lunch today for example...I thought it would be nice to meet daddy for lunch. Dean agreed and Ben and I picked him up and we headed to Penn Station, which was Benny's choice mind you. It turns out that Ben wanted to eat Sun Chips at Penn Station and nothing else. That didn't fly with mommy and daddy and when we suggested that he could not have any more chips until he ate some turkey he had an absolute meltdown and screamed/cried at the top of his lungs...much to the delight of our fellow diners. This little showdown continued for the duration of lunch...Ben would calm himself long enough to reach for the chip bag, mommy and daddy would say no and hand him turkey instead, and Ben would freak out. Needless to say there were no winners at Penn Station today...not one piece of turkey touched Ben's lips and a bag of Sun Chips was thrown in the trash. I can't wait for dinner time when the drama will unfold again, oh wait I have bible study tonight. It's boys night! Good luck Dean!
