Hello! Sorry I have not posted in several days. As with everyone, the holidays are crazy and the days fly by way too fast. When did that start happening? I remember a time not entirely that long ago when December seemed to go so slow and I couldn't wait for Christmas to arrive. Now it seems the days are gone before they begin...we pack so much into every available minute that we sometimes forget to stop and enjoy each individual moment. That is going to be my biggest New Years Resolution this year....to stop trying to create memories, and start embracing the moments that just pop up.
The times I love best are when Ben and I are doing nothing special and he throws his arms around my neck and gives me a sloppy kiss, or when Dean leaves a note on my computer desk in the morning to greet me when I get up at 5:00 a.m. to type. I love that! I think as a mom I am pretty good at getting Ben out of the house and taking him on fun outings, but I sometimes forget how nice it is to just sit still and watch the beautfiul creature that Dean and I created as he grows into the most delightful little person I have ever met.
Anyway, speaking of outings...on Monday our friend Jarin took Ben and I to the Brownsburg Fire Station to visit her boyfriend who is a firefighter. To say that Ben had a blast is an understatement. He relished every moment of that visit. He was fascinated by the pole and the trucks and even got to wear a hat, "drive" the ladder truck and blow the horn. Ben kept proudly saying "I fireman." In typical boy fashion, Ben loves all things related to trucks. I sometimes wonder what he will be when he grows up. If his 2-year-old self is any indicator, he will be something highly useful to society. His favorite professions right now would have to be fire fighter, construction worker, and garbage man! Perhaps he will be all three!
I am going to attempt to post a couple of pictures from our day at the fire house.
Love to you all, Melanie
