Sweet Cadalyn

Last weekend, Dean and I went to visit Ethan and Cherrylynn and their new beautiful baby daughter, Cadalyn Jane. She is such a cutie and a really good baby. It was so much fun spending time with their family and I was also spoiled by an entire day spent with Dean. On Sunday we all spent the day at home watching football, never even leaving the house! I can't recall the last time I spent an entire day "at home" with Dean, so that was a treat.

I had a hard time putting Cadalyn down and definitely hope the old adage that you can't spoil a newborn is true, because otherwise Cherrylynn and Ethan are in trouble! We love Cadalyn and miss her so much...we love her mom and dad too!

Ahhhh... What a beautiful child.

Cadalyn misses you guys, too. I've been trying to stick my tongue out at her since you've been gone, but it's just not the same without her Aunt Melanie.

While I'm glad you came to visit, it makes me even more sad that you all live so far away. Boo. (Well, maybe it's us that live so far away.)

We all love you. Hugs to Ben and Jack and Dean, and you, of course.

Dear Aunt Melanie,

I miss you. My life has been so terrible since you left me. My Mommy doesn't hold me all the time like you do, and especially during all of my naps this makes me sad and mad and frustrated. Nap time just isn't right unless you're snuggled in close with someone who loves you. She thinks that sometimes she needs two hands to do things like go to the bathroom or eat and stuff, and abandons me in my crib when she thinks I'm tired.

I've tried to voice my displeasure by loudly proclaiming my need to be cuddled, usually by screaming within 5 - 15 minutes of her putting me down for my nap, but this just seems to frustrate her. Good thing she's a sucker and will come to get me when I call for her. My plan is to continue the screaming until she finally succumbs and holds me 24 hours a day for the rest of my life. That sounds like heaven.

I love you,

Cadalyn

Okay, one more comment for good measure...

I think it's funny that I put Jack in front of Dean in the hug line. Plus, I can't believe I didn't mention the baby! Please give the baby the equivalent of whatever a fetal hug is. We're praying for her/him all the time (for now mostly that she/he decides to do a flip and that your ribs are spared from further torment - oh, and also that she/he is happy, healthy, well-adjusted and just generally wonderful).

Love,
Cherrylynn

My sweet Cadalyn:

I do love and miss you too. Take it easy on your mommy, please. Enjoy your time with Nana...she is probably an even bigger sucker than mommy and would love to hold you all weekend!

Be a good girl. I can't wait to sing with you at Thanksgiving.

Melanie
