Poor Sick Ben

I think I seriously jinxed poor Ben. A few short weeks ago a friend was commenting on how sick her kids were and how much she hated winter. She asked me if Ben had been sick and I said "no not at all, we have been really lucky." The luck has officially worn off. As you recall, Ben had strep throat 2 weeks ago. He recovered nicely from that and now has a nasty coughing virus. His cough is horrendous and he keeps spiking a high fever as well. He has added a runny nose to his list of symptoms today as well. Poor little man. The pediatrician diagnosed him with a virus and said we have to just let it run it's course. He is truly miserable and is getting little if any sleep at night. Dean has slept with him the past 2 nights so he hasn't gotten any rest either. The four of us are acquiring some major baggage under our eyes...actually Joe looks pretty good, but the rest of us are struggling!

In addition, it occured to me this morning that with the exception of the week of Christmas we have been to the pediatrician' s office at least once (twice in one week!) every week since Joey was born. I really love our pediatrician but this is getting ridiculous, not to mention expensive. I asked them yesterday if I could go ahead and convert one of the exam rooms into a bedroom so we could just spend the night.

The pictures below reflect the bond that is growing between my two sweet boys. They really do love each other. The only bummer is that these pictures were taken mere hours before Ben began his coughing fits. I am so afraid Joey is going to pick up the virus and his poor little lungs won't handle it as well as Ben's are. I just want a healthy household. I hate to wish time away, but I am over winter. Hurry Spring!
