We decided to bite the bullet and have Ben's first "friends" birthday party this year. It was a raging success and a good time was had by all. The theme was "pirates," though up until minutes prior to the party starting, Ben insisted it was an Incredible Hulk, Scooby Doo, Power Ranger, Pirates Party. What a wierdo!
Ben was a very gracious host and I was amazed how well all the kids got along. We had no incidents (that I knew of at least!) and Ben remembered his manners and was grateful for all the gifts...and boy were there gifts. He was spoiled rotten! We are so lucky to have such generous friends and family.
Ben and I baked and decorated his cake the night before the big bash. He did an excellent job...even though the top layer of the cake did crack and start to fall off later that night...we decided that the pirate ship had become shipwrecked!
We passed out bandannas to all the kids as they arrived, so there were a bunch of little pirates running around all afternoon!
Pin the tail on the donkey was a hit...here is Hayden cheating!
The treasure chest pinata was also a hit...literally!
Ben had lots of help opening his presents. Each gift was met with lots of oohs and aahs. He was absolutely thrilled with all the loot he scored!
Fortunately Ben got 2 pairs of these Incredible Hulk gloves. There has been hours of ensuing Hulk mania!
Ben's actual birthday is Friday and I am so looking forward to spending the day together as a family. I have no idea what we will do to commemorate the big day, but I know we will find some way to make it special! Stay tuned mateys! Arrrggghhh!
