A Week of Sports and Sleepovers

Our family had a busy but wonderful week. Saturday Ben had his last basketball game. He scored at least four baskets (Dean thinks he actually scored five and Ben thinks probably ten!). Ben loved playing basketball...so much so that we have signed him up for another session beginning in a couple of weeks. Joey was Ben's biggest fan. He loved cheering for Ben and applauding his efforts. Dean did capture a picture of me chasing Joe around the gym...when he wasn't busy chanting "Bub, Bub, Bub" he was running laps around the gym and chasing the basketballs all over the place. Also pictured are the boys and their grandparents...one of my favorite pictures EVER.
Wednesday Joey and I took Ben up to Lafayette to spend the night with Aunt Sissy and Uncle Clint. Ben got to go to his first "PU stinks" game and was evidently devastated when the "purple team" (Northwestern) won. Ben had a great time and Aunt Sissy brought him home on Thursday where we grabbed lunch with Nana and Aunt Mal Mal at Chick Fil A before Sissy had to head home and we had to get Joe to the doctor for his 15 month checkup.
Joe did a great job at the doctor. No shots this trip, which is always nice! I can't find my "stat sheet" from the doctor's office right now and Dean fell asleep in Ben's bed so I can't even ask him if he knows where it is...I will confirm in the morning and update! I think Joey weighed in at 26.04 pounds and was 30.5 inches tall.
Following Joey's doctors appointment we headed home for a couple hours and then were off to Ben's last Little Kickers soccer practice. It was parent participation week and Ben loved having his daddy out on the field with him. Joey, as always, was a (maybe not so patient) observer. He desparately wanted to be out with the big kids...but settled for running laps around the building and chasing squishy balls!
Thursday night our whole family headed to church. The boys played with tons of friends and Dean and I attended a small group meeting. I actually led the group and think it went really well. We had a lot of fun and the conversation flowed very well.
Friday night both boys spent the night at nana and bampaws house so Dean and I could go on an excellent date night. We had dinner at Oceanaire and spent the night downtown at the Hyatt. It was a rejuvenating evening and I think the boys had a great time with Nana and Bampaw as well.
Saturday Ben, Kirin, and I went to the circus to celebrate their friend Rachel's birthday. The company was great, but I have to say I am not a huge fan of the circus. It was WAY too long...2.5 hours and before you blink an eye you drop $40 on a bunch of junk. Oh well. The kids had fun and it was all about the birthday girl anyway and she seemed to enjoy every minute. Following lunch at Noble Romans and birthday cake, the boys and I spent the remainder of the 70+ degree day playing outside and getting some yard work done.
Whew. I am exhausted just documenting our busy week! I think next week will be less action packed, but no doubt just as good!
