Ben's First Day of School

Ben's first day of his last year of preschool was last week. It is amazing to me how quickly the time has FLOWN by since the first day I dropped him off at Opportunity Day at Speedway Christian Church for "the 2-year-old" class. This is what he looked like then....
And this is now....
Where has my little baby boy gone?! Three years ago when I dropped Ben off for his first day of school he cried so violently upon our arrival that he broke out into hives, so distraught was he at the thought of leaving his mommy. The drop off hysterics continued for several weeks. I'm not sure who cried more during this time; Ben or I! It was a truly miserable experience every Friday. Ben began to anticipate school days and would start wimpering at breakfast, tears would start flowing as he was buckled in his carseat, and the full blown terror would kick in as we pulled into the church parking lot.
I know I've said it a ton lately, but oh what a difference a little time makes. Ben woke up bright and early the first day of school ready to hit the road. He scarfed down his banana, milk, and waffles with peanut butter and syrup, diligently brushed his teeth and grabbed his blue backpack and Star Wars lunch box. He gave Joey lots of hugs and kisses and told him that he would miss him and see him soon. We sang our "going to school, school, school song" the whole way there and took pictures by our favorite tree outside the entrance. Ben patiently waited for Joey and I to say our goodbyes and then he informed us it was time for us to leave! Joey was a bit confused but went to give Ben one more kiss "buh-bye" before leaving his beloved bubba behind for the day.
