Swim Lessons

Today was Ben's last day of swim lessons. He took lessons Monday-Thursday from 11:15-11:45 for 2 weeks. He did such a great job and by the end of the lessons really enjoyed his time in the water. As with most new activities, however, Ben was very apprehensive at the start of lessons. I couldn't understand his fear at first, as he LOVES the water and never fights us when we go swimming or while taking a bath. I quickly remembered, however, that Ben is my cautious boy and he doesn't "dive" into anything new without first assessing the situation. I love this about him, but I also wish he would be more confident and secure in his ability to tackle new experiences. Regardless, he cried for half of the lesson the first day, 10 minutes of the lesson the second day, 5 minutes of the lesson the third day, and his eyes were dry for the duration of the classes! He was splashing and kicking and loving every minute this week!

I am so proud of him for overcoming his fear and I loved watching him master the skills he was being taught and seeing the pride in his eyes when I would cheer for him when he jumped in. Such a big brave boy!
