My friend Sonya took this picture...I love his blue eyes.
I am amazed by how quickly Ben seems to be growing up. I swear every morning I wake up and look at him and want to weep at how old he seems all of a sudden. What happened to my little baby boy? Gone are the chubby baby cheeks and round toddler belly...in their place is this beautiful little man (in my humble, unbiased opinion of course :) ). He even smells different...no longer like baby soap, but this new spicy little boy smell...like sunshine and freshly mowed grass...sometime with a little dirt thrown in for good measure!

I love Ben's pesonality. Lord knows he can be fiesty and disobediant, but at his root he truly is a kind, gentle soul. He is very sensitive and caring, but also rambunctious and wild. And boy is he D-R-A-M-A-T-I-C. I have no idea where this comes from :)
Ben is wrapping up his soccer season. He loves playing "hockey/soccer in the hallway" with Dean at home but is a little timid on the soccer field. He likes running up and down the field and LOVES playing goalie. He paces back and forth with his arms and legs spread wide making faces and taunting the other team...very intimidating! So far no one has scored on him so his tactics must be working!
Tonight after dinner Dean had Ben practicing heading the ball...it was hillarious! He actually did a really good job but I fear he is going to be chasing the ball with his head on Saturday at his soccer game!!
We are just getting over a bout with croup...if you've never experienced it, I hope you never do. It is truly a terrifying experience to be awoken by the sound of your child coughing a heinous barky, choking cough. He is feeling better but we are all getting a little stir crazy and sick of being housebound...just in time for Joe to start getting sick! I fear now that I have 2 kids someone will always be sick between September and May. Boo.
Ben is doing really well at school this year. He is working on his letters and days of the week. He loves his teachers and is making new friends. He also continues to be a loving, considerate, wonderful big brother to Joey. Joey has started calling Ben "buh buh buh buh." Ben likes to refer to himself as "bubbalicious!"
Ben has also perhaps become a bit of a sexist...tonight after dinner Dean was doing dishes and Ben said "Daddy, stop doing the dishes...that's mommy's job!"
I love my benny boo!
