Soccer Stud

Ben wrapped up his soccer season a couple of weekends ago. He was so proud to receive his medal and played very hard in the last game of the season. As I mentioned earlier, Ben loves playing soccer at home with his daddy but was always a bit hesitant during actual games. He was always worried he was going to get run over so he spent the entire game purposefully making sure there was no one behind him...of course this meant if the ball came near him he had to run away from it since there were a pack of kids chasing the ball. It was really funny to watch.

We are definitely not above bribing our children when necessary and Dean evidently made a deal with Ben that if he kicked the ball during the final game he would take him to Target to buy a toy! Well wouldn't you know it the first time Ben was in the game the ball came rolling in Ben's direction and before he had a chance to move out of the way it hit him in the foot! Before he even realized what he was doing he brought his foot back and kicked the ball! Ben looked over at his dad with a huge, shocked look on his face. He was so proud and had a swagger in his step the rest of the game...as he continued to avoid the ball! FYI, he did end up getting to pick out a toy from Target but he actually forgot about the deal for several days and didn't mention it until we were shopping at Target for something else!
