Day Light Saving Schmaylight Saving

Day Light Saving Time gets a big THUMBS DOWN from the Heaviland house. I am not sure how one little measly hour "rolled back"--an hour that was supposedly GAINED mind you--can wreck such havoc on our lives. Bedtime has become challenging, Joey has been waking up in the middle of the night, multiple times usually, every night and waking up for good to start his day between 5:30-6:30 a.m. The early wake up call leads to a grouchy joe bug who really wants a late morning nap during the day; which doesn't fit into our typical schedule. I have been having to wake him up after three hours napping in the afternoon, which leads to a VERY grouchy little man who later gets his second wind and doesn't want to go to bed. Bedtime typically is around 8:00 p.m., but several nights this week Joe was still lying in his bed talking to himself, singing his ABCs, and calling out every few minutes "moooommmmy?" after 9:30 p.m. ARRRGGGH.
As I write it is 5:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. Joey has been in our bed since around midnight last night I think and we have been up for good for about 20 minutes. What a frustrating little monkey. I suppose if nothing else, DST proves that we have internal clocks that function regardless of what the time on an actual clock reads. What a "fun" social experiment. Not.
I will say the morning isn't a total bummer...soon I will be snuggling with my little niece. Michelle and Brooke ended up coming down last night and spending the night so I got to help tuck Brookie in and will get to see her first thing in the morning today. The best. The boys had so much fun playing with Sissy and Brookie B last night. Ben and Sissy had a heated game of Battleship going most of the night and Joe made it his mission in life to entertain Brookie. So fun.
