I think it is AMAZING how FAST this season flies by. I remeber being a kid and I could not believe how LONG and SLOW the days were leading up to Christmas. Now the days seem to fly by at warp speed and I feel like I have just barely touched my feet to the ground to start my day when it is time to lay my weary head down and rest to do it all again the next day. I really want to just slow down and enjoy my favorite time of year. Kids definitely help you do that, unless your kid is Benjamin. As I've said before, Ben has a little bit too much of my personality and he has a hard time enjoying the moment. We did some secret (from the grandmas), fun holiday craft this week and Ben would be so fired up to start and then the minute the craft was underway he would want to know what we were doing next. His enthusiasm is contagious and appreciated, but his constant desire to "know what is next" can drive you crazy!!! Aaaahhh, tis the season.

Donkeys are way cooler than goats! Who knew?
Ben was in the Christmas Pageant at our church last weekend. It was billed a "simple Christmas Pagaent" and it was beautiful. The youngest kids (4-6 year olds) were all sheeps, goats, or donkeys. Ben was a goat and was ticked off! I believe his comment the weekend before the pagaent was..."Mom, I'm a goat in the Christmas show. Kirin is a donkey. It's not fair, donkeys are way cooler than goats!" HA!

In other exciting holiday news, a guest from the North Pole came to visit last night and will be staying with us for the next two weeks. We are pleased to welcome Nicholas the Elf!
The hat that served as Ben's goat costume must have been itchy because he spent the majority of the show itching his head and making faces. He was the cutest goat I have ever seen! None of the pictures I took during the show turned out, but here are pictures of our little goat taken immediately following the show.
Nicholas is part of the "Elf on a Shelf" group and will watch over the boys during the day and report back to Santa Claus at night regarding their behavior. We are all excited about his arrival!
This morning after we found Nicholas and read the book that told us his story, we headed to church for Breakfast with Santa. In addition to discovering that I am a big fan of sausage on a stick wrapped in a pancake (who knew?) I also had a blast watching the boys run around with their friends and seeing the joy in Joey's eyes when he stood in front of Santa Clause and just stared and stared with a big smile on his face. I'm not sure if Joey ever spoke a word to him, but he did, with some encouragement from Ben and Santa, climb onto his lap and settled right in. I didn't think Joey was going to get down to let other kids visit with Santa, he looked so comfy!
