Dr. Joe??

Joey celebrated his 2nd birthday Thomas the Train style with a party at our house the day after his actual birthday. The usual suspects joined us for the occasion; family and a few close friends. Joey was spoiled rotten and received no fewer than three doctor bags, leaving us to wander if perhaps this is a sign of things to come. Is Joey destined for medical school?! Stay tuned to find out...
The party was simple but successful, despite the rather unfinished state of our kitchen! We are in the middle of remodeling and the majority of the kitchen is complete, but there is one wall that has not yet been painted and in my infinite brilliance it was in front of that wall, complete with my different blue color swatches as background, that I chose to place Joey as he ate his cake. The pictures turned out just lovely!!! Joey's Thomas cake was lovingly crafted by his Nanny and though he was unimpressed with the singing of "happy birthday," he did enjoy eating the cake....notice his intense focus on the task at hand in the pictures below; no time for picture taking, time to eat cake!!! That's my boy!
Oh well. The theme of the party may have been Thomas the Train, but the theme of the gifts was definitely Diego. Joey cleaned up on Diego items (no duplicates amazingly enough) and loved all his loot.
My favorite part of the evening was how Joey greeted all the guests upon their arrival with an exuberant, "it's Joe-Joe's burtday!" I was a proud momma also when after opening each gift he got up, with very little prompting from mom and dad I might add, and went to hug and thank each gift giver. Such a sweet boy!
After opening all his gifts, however, he did retreat to his room with his buddies Trey and Adam to enjoy the comfort of his old familiar train table!
