Happy Father's Day?

So the day didn't start off quite as we intended... At church yesterday morning I was in the nursery with Joe and Ben decided to stick with us. For some inexplicable reason there were no other kids in the nursery so Dean decided to come hang with us. We were coloring and listening to the church service on the intercom and actually having a lovely time. Another little girl ended up coming in to join us and as she and Ben were playing with cars, Joey evidently felt left out and the following scene unfolded...like slow motion. Joey went across the room and was clearly irritated. He grabbed a toy camera and then headed over to where Ben and Sarah were playing. I anticipated nastiness so I said, in a warning tone, "Joey...." at which point Joey, standing maybe 2 feet from Benny, drew his arm back and threw the camera at Ben's head. Dean grabbed Joey and I headed to check on Ben who was sobbing hysterically (standard) and holding the back of his head. Dean and I tire of Ben's dramatics and constantly remind him of the story of the little boy who cried wolf. It is seriously impossible to tell based solely on Ben's tears whether he broke a bone or suffered a paper clip. So we were not immediately concerned that his sobs indicated severe pain. However... Ben pulled his hand away from his head and began screaming even more loudly as his little palm was filled with blood and blood gushed out of the back of his head and quickly soaked the collar of his shirt. I got Ben to the bathroom and was amazed by the amount of blood pouring from his sweet head. We got the bleeding stopped after only maybe 5 minutes and determined that the wound wasn't gapping or even all that big so we probably could do without medical attention. Father's Day festivities resumed and the rest of the day went without a hitch complete with a great lunch with my family and a fun night out at the Pathfinder Awards...maybe not exactly how Dean wanted to spend his day but a good time nonetheless. So cheers to my sweet husband, the greatest dad in the world. The boys and I celebrate you every day for your silly songs, your fun games, your calm in the face of disaster, your laugh that makes us laugh, your back rubs, your crazy dance moves, your love for us, and your overall awesomeness. We are SO lucky to call you ours.
