The Bug's Golden Birthday

It was a pleasure to help Joe Bug celebrate his third birthday yesterday. You never know what you are going to get with Joe; his moods are a bit eratic these days. We were pleasantly surprised when he woke up in a great mood and was so excited to see his gifts on the kitchen table. "Do I have to wait until my party tonight to open my presents?" he asked. He was so happy that he only had to wait until Ben woke up!

As soon as the torn paper revealed the gift inside, Joe started squealing "It's a Toy Story thing. It's a Toy Story thing. I see Buzz Lightyear. I see Woody!" He liked his gifts, obviously! After a breakfast featuring one of the boys favorites, blueberry muffins, Ben headed to school and Joey and I headed to MOPS. Joey brought cookies to share with his friends and asked after our meeting if he could "peeeeeeasss have chips and cheese from Qdoba" for lunch! Dean and I were happy to oblige his wish :)

Joey had a quick nap, following which Ben came home and we watched one of Joey's presents, Toy Story 3! And then it was time to party! We had over all the usual people who help us celebrate special occasions: Nana, Bampaw, Uncle Craig, Abby, Sissy, Brookie, Landon, Oma, Aunt Barbie, Kevin, Casey, The Chaplins, and the Wills. Angela Chaplin made another fabulous cake. Joey requested a cake with Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey. Ang delivered!

We had Joey's favorite dinner, Chicago's pizza and breadsticks, and Joey loved having some of his favorite people in the world with him to help celebrate his birthday. Joe loved opening presents and was thrilled by all the loot he received. It was definitely a Toy Story themed day but shockingly no duplicates were received. Joey was, once again this year, super grateful and went around giving everyone a hug and kiss and thanking them for his gifts.

It was a great night and we all went to bed exhausted and happy.

Happy Birthday to you, my Joe Bug. I love you so much and our family is so blessed to have you in our lives. You definitely keep life interesting. You are mischevious, fun-loving, curious, silly, fiesty, and creative. You definitely keep us on our toes and also wear us out!
