Benny Boo Turns 8

It is hard to believe that my big boy is now 8 years old.  Time truly flies.  Benny woke up bright and early on his big day and came to sit with me in the kitchen for a little bit.  We snuggled and I said "Well, buddy, 8 years ago right now I was in a hospital waiting to meet you."  Isn't that crazy?  This (not so little anymore) person who consumes nearly my every thought, influences every action I make and (along with his brother and dad) makes up every happy thought I have has only been in my life for 8 years!! I feel like I have known him forever and  yet I lived 25 years without ever even thinking about him.  Crazy.

Anyway, in our true family tradition, Benny's birthday celebration actually began a week ago when he got to take his two best friends Nathan and Jackson to an Indians baseball game on a hot, beautiful afternoon.  We had great seats and the boys loved spending time together at the ball park.  This has become a fun little tradition that both families participate in to celebrate Nathan and Bennys bdays since they are 1 day apart. After baseball we went home for a bit to cool off and then met up with the Matelics, this time including the dads, for some tennis baseball at the park and pizza, breadsticks, and cookie cake.  The DeLisles came to play too!

After the birthday party picnic the big boys came back to our house and the little kiddos had a sleepover at the Matelics.  It was a very happy day, indeed!

Ben's actual birthday was pretty low key, which was actually really, really nice.  We met up with Oma, Uncle Craig, Aunt Abby, Nana, Bampaw and Aunt Mal Mal at Cracker Barrel at 9:30 for breakfast and then went out to Aunt Barbie's house to visit sweet baby Emmett...and the rest of the family :)

We then stopped by Target and just went home to watch movies and chill for a few hours.  Uncle Dave and Aunt Karen stopped by to see the birthday boy, which was an awesome surprise.  I also was amazed how many phone calls and facebook messages (through his parents accounts) Ben received this year.  He felt very loved!

We met up with the "breakfast gang" along with great grandma, Aunt Sissy, Uncle Clint, Brookie, Landon and Connor that night at Nana and Bampaw's for a birthday dinner complete with Benny's favorite Dairy Queen cookie dough ice cream cake.

Ben was spoiled rotten by his family once again this year.  Money seemed to be the theme and he ended up getting nearly $150!!!!  He doesn't even know what to do with it all and I fear it is rapidly burning a hole in his wallet.  His favorite gifts, he said, were his Washington Nationals baseball hat from Craig and Abby and his razor scooter from us.  He also loved the remote control car his brother picked out for him!

After dinner we played a heated game of Clue, Jr., which resulted in a Joey meltdown, and called it a night.  No fireworks this year...I think we were all in bed snoring before it was even dark!  It was a spectacular day.

pictures to come.  Emerson ate my computer charger cord and I can't upload any photos right now.  grrrrrrr.
