Definitely, Yes
This afternoon I opened the front door after hearing a soft little knock to discover Cassidy (aka Nutty) on my doorstep. Nutty is a good friend of Ben's from school who moved to Mooresville in the past year but finished out the school year with Ben...in fact, Ben announced to me one day this past spring that he did not have a girlfriend "but I'm going to marry Nutty, mom. Have you seen her? She wears really sparkly clothes!" Nutty was spending the day with her grandparents today and wanted to come see Ben so her grandpa walked her around the corner to our house. The boys and I were just preparing to enjoy popsicles so we congratulated Nutty on her good timing and invited her in to join us.
Side story. Nutty is the great niece of one of Dean's best friends, Scott. Nutty's mom, Caylie, got pregnant with her when she was a Senior in high school and her pregnancy was about 4 months behind mine. I have a very clear memory of going to Rick's Boatyard for my birthday dinner when I was 8 months pregnant with Ben. I was wearing a dress and Dean assured me that I looked okay but the HORRIFIED look on Caylie's face when I walked into the restaurant where she was a hostess made it crystal clear that I was a humungous beast and that Caylie was terrified when faced with her imminent destiny and the girth that she too would soon experience.
But I digress. Ben asked Nutty if she wanted to see him ride his bike (he can now ride on 2 wheels. yay!) and being the sweet girl that she is, she said yes. We all headed outside where Ben impressed Nut with his skills and then she impressed him with cartwheels and roundoffs! Ben was such a gentleman the entire time we were with Nutty. He kept asking her if she needed anything to eat or drink and was very attentive. It was pretty sweet. Nutty decided she wanted to go get her bike and ride to the park so Todd (Nut's grandpa), Joe, and I followed Nutty and Ben as they biked to the park. As we were walking, I had some nostalgia as I remembered that when we first moved to Speedway I used to take long walks around the park with Ben in his stroller and Sandy (Nutty's grandma who was watching her a lot those days) would be walking Nutty in her stroller and we would often stop and chat....and now those two little babes are big kids preparing for kindergarten and racing each other on bicycles.
Anyway, as we were walking behind the little lovebirds Todd said "so the way this all transpired today was Nut was playing with her Uncle Kyle's Magic 8 ball and we overheard her say "Does Ben still like me?" and the Magic 8 ball said "Definitely, Yes." Nut immediately asked if she could go visit Ben."
So clearly it is a long shot that Nut and Ben's love story will carry them through childhood into adulthood, but I thought this was too precious not to document...just in case!

I am soooo jealous, Benjamin! :(
However, the story is pretty cute so I guess I'll have to share you.
-Your 638th girlfriend
How adorable is that story?! I can't believe romance is already an issue in your house:)
I have fun peeking at your blog too, and thanks for your kind words on mine. With little people in the house, it seems there's never a lack of stuff to write about!
