BOOM BABY!!!

We were so proud of our Benny Boo last night as he participated (and won) a slam dunk competition during the first timeout of the second quarter at the Pacers game last night! Ben was super nervous; though there is a good chance I was equally if not more nervous. We both had major butterflies!! Nana and Bampaw joined Joe and I as we cheered wildly for Ben. There were three other kids in the contest and Ben was the fourth contestant to shoot. He was dissapointed to miss his first dunk (a windmill), but the crowd cheered his efforts.
Ben lined up his last dunk by walking the ball up to the basket and setting it down. The emcee said "oh, it looks like Ben is planning something fancy." Ben then walked back to the starting point, did a somersault, scooped the ball up, and slammed it home! Slam dunk! The crowd cheered and Ben had a huge smile on his face. The emcee then told the crowd that a winner would be determined based on applause. She held her hand over the heads of the first three contestants as the crowd applauded and when she put her hand over Ben and said his name the crowd went wild. No joke. It was awesome!
Ben had been told all week that it didn't matter who won it was just about the experience (and besides, everyone got the same prize) but you could tell it still felt pretty great to get all those cheers!
Joey was proud of his bubby but was equally impressed by the nachos served at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Joey was also thrilled to have his best friend, Trey, seated two rows in front of us.
I have been to many, many Pacers games over the years, including several playoff games (back in the day) but this was probably my favorite game ever. And the Pacers won so the evening was a success all around!
