Just another day in paradise. We woke up (Ben and I in the master bedroom and Dead and Joe in the "kids" room twin beds) and had breakfast before heading down to the pool around 9:45 a.m. We swam until after about 11:30 when we headed inside for lunch. Following lunch we decided to take a break from the beach and pool and drive to Sanibel Island.
Joey loved the "huge bridge" that led to the island. Our first stop was at the Wildlife Refuge Center to check out the Education Center exhibits.
We then drove around the island and decided to visit Captiva Island. Now that is paradise. Captiva reminded Dean and I so much of our honeymoon location, Kaui, Hawaii. We decided that we could definitely see ourselves spending our retirement years in a cottage on Captiva. Something to dream about anyway!
Following our drive to Captiva we stopped at Pinocchio's for ice cream upon Nana and Bampaw's recommendation. We then drove out to the lighthouse and headed back to our condo in Ft. Myers.
Following a brief nap in our condo (at least I napped, not sure what the boys did!) we headed to Iguana Mia, one of Dean and my favorite mexican restaurants from previous SW Florida trips. Joey was thrilled to have "chips and cheese!"
After dinner we played Jungle Golf (putt putt) where Benny got a hole-in-one on one of the mystery holes, earning himself a free game the next time we are in town!
Today is Father's Day and the boys and I are so blessed to be able to celebrate Dean today and every day. He is a wonderful father and we love him so very much.
As I type this the boys are laughing and chasing each other around the condo while O.A.R. plays (loudly) on the stereo. Our vacation has definitely had a soundtrack as we have almost constantly been singing and dancing to "crazy game of poker" and "lay down" while Joey screams "it's a revolution" at the top of his lungs. I will never again hear these songs without smiling and remembering our fantastic week at the beach.
Following relaxing in the condo we decided to head down to the beach for sunset and a little catch.
Dean attempted to get a good picture of mommy and the boys...check out Joe's face in these pics! Priceless and CLASSIC Joe!
It was a beautiful sunset and a beautiful night spent with my favorite boys.
