Our family packed up and headed south for some fun in the sun and a break from the monotony and distractions of work and obligations that too often keep us away from what matters most...time spent with each other.
The adventure began bright and early with a 7:30 a.m. flight to Ft. Myers...Joey's first time flying. He did great (as did Ben). Three of our tickets ended up being in business class and I was in the 3rd row of coach by my lonesome. Benny ended up graciously agreeing to sit next to me and Joey and Daddy started the flight together. The boys switched about half way through and I was glad to get to spend some time with Joey and watch his reaction when we landed. He thought it was cool, but was dissapointed that we were back at another airport and not on the beach!
The boys were super wound up and excited about the beach. They passed out on the way to the condo and were bummed that we had to grab lunch at Subway while waiting for our condo to be available. We checked in around 11:40 I would say and were at the beach by noon!!
We spent the rest of the day back and forth from the beach to the pool and even squeezed in a late afternoon nap. It was bliss. The highlight of the day for me was sneaking away with Ben while Daddy and Joe snoozed for a walk along the beach. Both boys have a major preference for their dad right now so I was grateful for some alone time with my first born. We went to dinner at a really cute restaurant called Pinchers and then headed back down to the beach to play in the sand.
The tide was SUPER low after dinner. I am not very good at estimating distance, but I would guess that the water was nearly 30 yards further out then it had been when we arrived earlier in the day. We saw probably hundreds of sand dollars and laughed at all the hermit crabs that would peek out of their conch shells and try to scurry away from us.
It was a perfect day and I fell asleep wondering how any day could possibly top this one.
