I spent a lot of time sighing today. And not the kind of bored or annoyed sigh that you might think; the kind of satisfied, content, relaxed sigh that just escapes out of nowhere and with no warning. It feels so good to FEEL so good.
We did a whole lot of nothing today...and it was fabulous. We slept in until almost 8 a.m. and just lounged around the condo until heading down to the pool around 9:30 a.m. We had the pool to ourselves for quite awhile before other families joined us and the boys made quick friends as usual.
Benny worked on his swimming and is now able to jump from the side in the deep end and swim to the other side!
Following the pool we had lunch in the condo and some quiet time. Dean graciously allowed me to head down to the beach to sit in the surf and read a book for an hour; such a treat. My thighs got burned (side note: Dean's chest and my thighs are so far the only sunburn casualities of the trip thus far. Job well done, sunscreen nazi) but I finished my book, saw a few more sting rays, and just enjoyed some peace and quiet.
We went for a swim in the late afternoon, cut short by a brief thunderstorm, which I watched from our patio. We cleaned up shortly after and headed to dinner at my favorite destination: Doc's Beach House in Bonita Springs. Another storm popped up in Bonita just as we were arriving at dinner, which was a bummer as the best part about Doc's is enjoying the luscious greasy pizza on paper plates at picnic tables on the beach. We still stuffed ourselves, just in the upstairs bar instead, which the boys thought was pretty cool.
We came home and played on the beach for a bit where we saw a double rainbow! I would say we have had a lucky week indeed. We then headed to the pool for a swim and then enjoyed another ice cream treat (m&m cookie sandwiches...I maybe am going to gain 10 pounds this vacation) before heading to bed. Sigh.
