A Much Needed Getaway -- Day Two

Everyone slept well the first night of vacation, even with our usual bed switching dance in the middle of the night.  I started the night off in a twin bed with Ben, spent sometime in a queen bed with Dean, and ended the night in a twin bed with Joey (I joined him after he fell out of the bed and woke up crying).  Ben ended up in bed with Dean.  Joey and I woke up at 7:30 and Benny and Dean joined us at 8, which was major sleeping in for all of us.  A successful start to the day!

Following bowls of cereal on the terrace we headed down to the beach around 9 a.m. and were amazed by what we saw...dozens of sting rays feeding right up on the shoreline.  I am not kidding when I say some of these beauties swam as close as 6 inches from my (very vulnerable feeling) toes.  They were just beautiful.  I was mesmerized and the boys were interested but not nearly as into it as I was! 

Joey discovered the hose used to clean off sand from the beach before heading to the pool and it has become his obsession.  Per usual.  The hose is ALWAYS the highlight of Joey's Florida vacations!

We spent the rest of the morning playing at the pool; Daddy and Joey versus Mommy and Benny at Keep Away.  I am pretty sure Daddy and Joe won; Joey has quite an arm and Daddy cheats! Daddy and Benny played shuffleboard on the giant boards by the pool as well.

We had lunch up in the condo and then took a quick walk along the beach before Joey started to lose it and we decided to all head back upstairs and lay down.  We all took a nap again...nearly 2 hours!  This is becoming a wonderful habit. 

As I type this Joey is starting to wake up and Dean and Benny just headed back downstairs for some shuffleboard.  I think ice cream sounds about right so I am going to grab Joe and see if I can coerce Dean and Benny into joining us for a cold treat.

ADDENDUM
I did convince the boys to join me for some ice cream down at Time Square.  We went for another swim after ice cream and then had dinner at a thumbs down restaurant (overpriced, mediocre food) called Junkanoo.  We played on the beach for a bit after dinner and saw someone catch a 14 inch baby shark!  It was so cool and maybe a little scary too!

Everyone slept pretty well...we did play musical beds again of course with Joey ending up in bed with Dean and me ending up in Joe's bed.
