Joey survived his first day in the twos at Opportunity Day with not one little tear. He awoke in a great mood (per usual) and was fired up to go see his friends. Joe is not a huge fan of having his picture taken but was excited to sit on the front step and pose like his bubby did on his first day of school...until the sun blinded him and he retreated to the car!

We giddily sang the "going to school" song on our way to school at the top of our lungs and posed outside on the steps at church for a brief photo session.

Joey came back to find me as I was signing him in and looked a bit nervous. He didn't cry and he didn't beg me to stay but he did ask, saying sweetly "you stay with me and play for a yittle bit?" as his big brown eyes peered up at me.
He walked me to the door and gave me a kiss and a hug goodbye and that was that. I went for a walk with my friend Kim for about an hour and then headed into work. I was excited to pick Joe up and see how his day had gone. Upon entering the room he was sitting (well, if you can call perching on one bent leg sitting) in his chair and squealed "mooommmmmyyyy" as soon as he saw me walk through the door. I bent down and scooped him up as he dove into my arms and quick as a wink he squirmed down and started running around the room showing me everything he enjoyed playing with all day! Miss Caroline (who also happens to be a family friend of ours) said "oh my goodness, Melanie. Joe is sooooo funny. He cracked us up all day." I guess Miss Lisa had asked Joey earlier in the day if he needed to go potty and he said "not yet. But I'll let you know when it's coming out." And he did :)
We rushed to Wheeler to pick up Ben after leaving Joe's school and then headed to the grocery store. I think Joey was a little tired.

Joey has been singing Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old McDonald, and Ring Around the Rosie all night long so I'm guessing a little singing was done at school today. He has been super smiley all afternoon and evening as well and is excited to go back to school again. Fingers crossed Wednesday goes as well as today! Way to go Joe Bug!
