Playing Catch Up

I was cleaning out my camera memory card in preparation for Joe Bugs first day of school tomorrow and realized that August was, in fact, a pretty fun-filled month. It's really too bad I stumbled through the month in a fog since it looks like a lot of good memories were made...thank goodness for my camera (which is still my trusty old friend as I have yet to make a trip to Roberts to get my new camera. I really need to get on that).
Children's Museum with Beebs
We went to the Children's Museum with Aunt Sissy and Brooke the week before school started for she and Ben. One last horrah and it was, as predicted, a great trip.
A (Quick) Visit with the Burris'
The Burris family came to town and we were able to enjoy a birthday party for Cadalyn and also a dinner with the new family of four. It was wonderful to meet Ainsley and Joey, Ben, and Cadalyn picked up right where they left off with their love affair with one another. A storm at the end of our dinner with them prolonged the evening and Joey and Cadalyn snuggled up to watch a movie
Photo Op?
It took us a few days after the seizure-inducing amount of photos I took on Benny's first day of school to convince Joe that he did not have to sit on the front step and have his picture taken everytime we left the house! Fun at the Fair
One of my favorite adventures of the year...we celebrated the end of summer with a trip to the Indiana State Fair. We only made it to the Fair once this year but we had a great time. Abby joined us and the highlights, as always, were the little hands on the farm exhibit, walking tacos (for Ben, Abs, and I), nachos (for Joe), and people watching.
We did not check out very many animals this year but the boys did enjoy feeding the goats. The especially liked the crafty goats who had figured out how to eat the food from the machine before kids could get the food out. Silly goats!
Wedding Bliss
We headed down to Evansville in the middle of the month for a wedding. We caravaned down with the Chaplins and the kids enjoyed a quick dip in the hotel pool before we cleaned up and went to the wedding.
The wedding was at a golf course and I was more than a little nervous about Joey's ability to sit through the ceremony. My fears were realized when Joey turned around in his seat during the minister's opening statements and saw the wedding cake. "Caaaaaake!" Joey squealed with glee. As I swiftly picked him up and tried to make a quick exit! We spent the rest of the ceremony in the bathroom!Ben was in heaven all night as he pretended he was on a date with Kirin. He pulled out her chair for her, got her drinks (lemonade), and danced with her. Ben did get distracted briefly by the flower girl. He desparately wanted to dance with Gabby but she was shy and ran away from him everytime he got close. He came back to the table and said with a dissapointed shrug. "Gabby won't even talk to me. She thinks I am a DORK!" HA!
The rest of the night was spent chasing Joey and Trey around and watching the kids tear up the dance floor.
At the end of the evening Joey made a wish by the fountain...that kid loves water! Who Knows?
I have no recollection of what prompted these photos (I told you, I was a mess in August) but I wish I did because they crack. me. up. Fun times with Kirin Chaplin!
Brookie B Overnight We had our first overnight (without her mommy) with the Beebs. Brooke was spending the weekend with Nana and Bampaw while Clint and Michelle were enjoying a trip to NYC but the boys could not handle the idea of Brooke being so close and not under the same roof. Rather than ship all the grandkids to Nana's house we asked if we could have our girl for the night. We had a blast. She is such a sweetie pie and SOOOO easy. She played well, ate well, and slept amazingly well. We love our Brookie B!
